Our story
Red Indian Lake Outfitting is owned and operated by Fred and Shirley Thorne who have been involved in the Newfoundland Outfitting Industry for nearly 20 years. The main hunting lodge was built by Fred in 2002 as a prime base of operation for guided, top quality Newfoundland big game hunting adventures.
We live full time in the town of Buchans, NL, which has a population of less than 700 people. From our little town we manage our Outfitting business with great dedication and passion. During the winter months we service all our hunting lodges and spike camps by snow machine and we are also constantly looking for new moose hunting areas. The winter months are great as it helps us keep track of game populations, location and movement. We conduct moose hunts in Areas 12 and 13 and caribou hunts in Areas 62 and 63 of the Long Range Mountains/Buchans Plateau area and the Gaff Topsails. Both of these hunting areas are located deep in the interior of Newfoundland.
We are an honest, hard working and dedicated Outfitting Business with great hospitality, very clean and comfortable hunting lodges, excellent food, and experienced Newfoundland guides.
