Each and every moose hunting season in Newfoundland, here at Red Indian Lake Outfitting, we harvest bull moose in the 45 to 48 inch range with the possibility of bulls that may reach 50 inches. The average moose however being in the mid 30 range.
Typical Newfoundland moose hunts with us consist of a early rise then a big breakfast prepared by one of our cooks and a before sunrise departure from your lodge. Depending which hunting lodge you are staying you will either leave the camp with your hunting guide in Argo, or you may have a short ride in a Truck to a drop location and from there you will travel in Argo or you may leave on foot as not to disturb any big game nearby. Once you leave be prepared to stay out all day. Your lunch will be prepared by our cooks and packed each morning for you.

Our Newfoundland Moose Hunts are not physically demanding however if you desire some hiking that’s fine as well. With our fleet of 8 x 8 Argos we are very mobile and able to access remote hunting areas right here in Newfoundland big game country. Some of our hunting areas and spike camps are as far back as 20 miles. It’s a thrilling experience to watch as one of these majestic animals come from a mile away in response to a call. Even more thrilling when it’s a trophy moose. Patience however is very important when hunting these large cautions animals the ability to sit for long periods and constantly glassing will usually pay off.
